Unieke documentaire over biologische wijn.
Synopsis:
From the bowels of the earth emerges the fruit of sparkling pleasure. But it doesn't grow just like that.
In Kissed by the Grape, Natalino and Amadio Fasoli from Italy show us what needs to be done to achieve that. Alvaro Espinoza from Chile claims he uses 'Voodoo' to make his best wines.
In Spain, Miguel Torres combines the latest technologies with his preference for the oldest grape varieties. Wine journalist Harold Hamersma describes his 'Appellation Contrôlée Utopia', while wine importer Derrick Neleman ensures that all this wonderful wine is available to connoisseurs.
All this can be seen in the filmic ode to organic winegrowing: Kissed by the Grape.
Filmmaker Fred van Dijk was curious to know why winegrowers like to put their hands in the soil and feel what's living in it. What he discovered was the same as in his earlier film profiles: a passion for life.
Together with Thomas Bank, internationally renowned saxophone player Candy Dulfer recorded the passionate soundtrack 'Oda Al Vino' especially for Kissed by the Grape.
Candy Dulfer has recorded and performed with artists including Prince, Dave Stewart, Aretha Franklin, Van Morrison, Angie Stone and many others.
